Can one domain have two email providers?

Yes. One domain can use two email providers at the same time. This is called split delivery: each address on the domain lives with one provider, mail for each person is delivered to wherever their mailbox is, and the outside world sees a single company. Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 both support it, and GINbox sets up its side for you.

  • Google calls it split delivery (Google Admin console, Gmail, Routing).
  • Microsoft calls it an internal relay accepted domain, with a connector to the other provider.

How split delivery works

Each address on your domain lives in one place. You choose who stays on Google Workspace or Microsoft 365; everyone else gets a GINbox mailbox.

An example domain using split delivery
PersonMailbox onPaid to
director@yourcompany.comGoogle Workspace or Microsoft 365Google or Microsoft, as today
accounts@yourcompany.comGoogle Workspace or Microsoft 365Google or Microsoft, as today
sales@, support@ and everyone elseGINboxGINbox, per mailbox

Outside senders see one company and one domain. Colleagues mail each other across the two sides as before, and nobody has to change their address.

Two ways to set it up

The two ways to run split delivery
Google or Microsoft first (recommended)GINbox first
Your MX recordsStay as they arePoint to GINbox
The people who stayNever depend on GINboxTheir mail passes through GINbox first
Spam and virus filtering for everyoneEach side filters its own peopleGINbox filters all incoming mail
Finishing the move laterChange the MX once, then switch offJust switch off — no DNS change

If GINbox were ever unreachable, mail is not lost either way: Google or Microsoft keeps it and tries again, and senders’ servers retry for days. GINbox also runs on a standby server that takes over within minutes.

What it can save

An example: a team of 20, where 3 people need Google Workspace and the rest need email. Google’s India price page listed Business Starter at ₹270 per user per month on 23 October 2026, annual commitment, GST excluded.

Monthly cost for a team of 20, before GST
Everyone on Google Workspace Starter3 on Google, 17 on GINbox 10 GB
Google Workspace20 × ₹270 = ₹5,4003 × ₹270 = ₹810
GINbox (billed yearly)—17 × ₹69 = ₹1,173
Per month₹5,400₹1,983

Work out your own saving

Everyone on Google or Microsoft
₹5,400 /month
3 there, 17 on GINbox
₹1,983 /month
You save
₹41,004 a year

Before GST. GINbox prices are billed yearly, with no first-year discount that jumps at renewal; enter the price you actually pay Google or Microsoft.

An illustration, not a quote: Google’s prices change and differ by plan (Base costs less, with less storage), and Microsoft 365 is priced differently. Check their current price pages. GINbox prices are on our pricing page, with no first-year discount that jumps at renewal.

Split delivery, dual delivery and moving everyone

Moving everyone is simplest when nobody depends on Drive, Docs or Teams: see moving from Google Workspace or from Microsoft 365.

What stays safe

  • Only the addresses you list are passed to Google or Microsoft. Nobody can use the arrangement to send mail through GINbox anywhere else.
  • Fake mail claiming your domain is refused unless it passes your domain’s own checks (DMARC). Genuine mail from your people at Google or Microsoft passes.
  • One address, one place: an address cannot be both a GINbox mailbox and one that stays. GINbox refuses the second.
  • Mail already in GINbox is never moved or changed by this setting.

Getting started

  1. Tell us your domain and the people who should stay on Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.
  2. We switch split delivery on for your domain. In your GINbox admin panel you list the people who stay; the panel shows the exact settings for your Google Admin console or Exchange admin centre.
  3. Create the GINbox mailboxes and bring everyone’s old mail across — from Google in one step, see moving from Google Workspace.
  4. Publish one SPF record that names both providers (the panel shows it), then send a test to one person on each side.

The exact settings for your admin: Google Workspace split delivery, step by step and Microsoft 365 with another provider.

Questions about split delivery

Can one domain have two email providers?

Yes. With split delivery, one domain’s addresses are divided between two providers: for example a few people on Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 and everyone else on GINbox. Google documents it as split delivery, Microsoft as an internal relay domain. Each address lives on one side only.

What is the difference between split delivery and dual delivery?

Split delivery sends each person’s mail to one system: the people who stay on Google or Microsoft get it there, everyone else gets it in GINbox. Dual delivery sends a copy of the same mail to both systems, which is used during trials or migrations, not to save licences.

Can one domain really use Google Workspace and GINbox at the same time?

Yes. This is called split delivery, and Google and Microsoft both support it. Each address lives in one place: the people you choose stay on Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, everyone else has a GINbox mailbox, and mail between them flows as it does today.

Will senders or customers notice anything?

No. Your domain and every address stay the same. Mail is delivered to whichever side the person is on, and replies, CCs and forwards work as before.

What happens if GINbox is unreachable?

If Google or Microsoft receives your mail first (the way we recommend), the people who stay there never depend on GINbox at all, and mail for GINbox users waits at Google or Microsoft, which tries again until it is delivered. Nothing is lost.

Do calendars and contacts work across both sides?

Meeting invitations by email work between everyone. Shared calendars, free/busy and the company address book are not shared between Google or Microsoft and GINbox.

Can we move the remaining people to GINbox later?

Yes, one person at a time and with their old mail. When the last one has moved, the split is switched off. If GINbox already receives your mail first, no DNS change is needed at all.

How do we start?

Split delivery is new, and our team sets it up with you: write to us with your domain and the people who should stay. We switch it on for your domain and walk you through the few settings at Google or Microsoft.
