| Cost | From ₹49 a mailbox a month, plus a domain | Free |
Why it matters: trust, control and continuity
Trust. When a customer gets an invoice or a change of bank details, the sender’s address is the first thing they check. A free address gives them nothing to go on; an address at your domain, protected by DKIM and DMARC, is something only your business can send from. That matters more every year as payment fraud by email grows.
Control. With a free account, the person who created it owns it. With business email, an administrator creates and removes mailboxes, resets passwords, and decides what happens to mail for someone who has left. Your customer history stays with the business.
Continuity. Your address is tied to your domain, not to a provider. If you ever change email provider, you move the mail and keep every address — printed on cards, invoices and your website — exactly as it is.
When a free address is still fine
- You are testing an idea and have no customers or invoices yet.
- It is a personal hobby, not a business people pay.
- You will register a domain soon and only need something for a few weeks.
Once you send quotes, invoices or payment details, business email pays for itself. You can keep using the Gmail app on your phone — it adds a business address like any other account (see Android or iPhone).
Switching from Gmail to business email
- Register a domain for your business, if you don’t have one.
- Choose a business email provider and create your mailboxes — see how to create a business email address.
- Bring the important old mail across: GINbox can copy a Gmail account’s mail into your new mailbox.
- Tell your contacts, update your website, cards and invoices, and set an away reply on the old address pointing to the new one.

Questions people ask
Is a Gmail address unprofessional for a business?
Not wrong, but it costs trust. Customers are more careful with payment requests and invoices from free addresses, because anyone can create yourbusiness.something@gmail.com. An address at your own domain shows the business is established and is much harder to imitate.
Can I use the Gmail app with business email?
Yes. The Gmail app on Android and iPhone can add any IMAP account, so you can keep the app you know while your mail comes from your own domain.
What does business email cost?
With GINbox, from ₹49 per mailbox per month billed yearly (GST extra), plus a domain if you do not have one, which costs a yearly fee at any registrar.
What happens to a free Gmail account when an employee leaves?
It stays theirs. The business cannot recover the password, the mail or the customers who write to it. With business email, an administrator can reset the password, keep the mailbox, or forward its mail to someone else.
Is Google Workspace the same as Gmail?
Google Workspace is Google’s paid business service: Gmail with your own domain, plus Drive, Docs and Meet. It is business email; free Gmail is not. GINbox is an alternative focused on email, priced per mailbox.
