These are GINbox’s settings; with another provider, use the server names it gives you. If your mailbox has two-step sign-in, first make an app password in GINbox webmail (Settings → App passwords) and use it below.

In the Gmail app

  1. Open the Gmail app, tap your profile picture at the top right, then Add another account.
  2. Choose Other, type your business email address, and tap Manual setup.
  3. Choose Personal (IMAP), enter your password, and tap Next.
  4. Incoming server settings: user name your full email address, server mail.ginbox.net, port 993, security type SSL/TLS.
  5. Outgoing server settings: keep Require sign-in on, user name your full email address, SMTP server mail.ginbox.net, port 465, security type SSL/TLS.
  6. Choose how often to check for mail, then enter your name as people should see it. Done.

In Samsung Email

  1. Open Samsung Email (on a new install it asks straight away; otherwise open the menu, tap the settings gear and Add account).
  2. Choose Other, enter your email address and password, then tap Manual setup and choose IMAP account.
  3. Incoming: server mail.ginbox.net, security SSL, port 993. Outgoing: server mail.ginbox.net, security SSL, port 465, with authentication required.
  4. Tap Sign in.

After it works

  • Signature: in the Gmail app, Settings → your business account → Mobile signature.
  • Notifications: Settings → your business account → Notifications, so business mail is not missed among personal mail.
  • The same mail everywhere: because this is IMAP, anything you file, delete or send on the phone also shows in webmail and on your computer.

Questions people ask

Can I use the Gmail app for my business email?

Yes. The Gmail app on Android can add any IMAP account, not just Gmail addresses. Your business mail appears as its own account in the app, and replies are sent from your business address.

Which security type should I choose?

SSL/TLS for incoming mail on port 993, and SSL/TLS for outgoing mail on port 465. If your network blocks 465, choose STARTTLS on port 587.

The app says “Couldn’t sign in” or “Authentication failed”.

Use your full email address as the user name. If your mailbox has two-step sign-in, use an app password made in GINbox webmail (Settings → App passwords) instead of your normal password.

Mail arrives late on my phone. Why?

Check the account’s sync frequency in the app’s settings, and that battery saving is not stopping the app from running in the background. In the Gmail app, Settings → your business account → Sync frequency.

Should I choose POP3 instead?

No. POP3 downloads mail to one device and does not keep folders or read status in step. IMAP shows the same mail on your phone, computer and webmail.
