How it works
- Attach the file in the compose window. Over 25 MB, it uploads as a link, with progress shown.
- It is checked: blocked and disguised file types are refused, and the file is scanned for viruses.
- The message carries a short “Shared file” box with the link and its expiry date.
- Settings → Shared files lists every file, how often it was downloaded, and a Delete button that stops the link at once.
Questions
How do I send a file larger than 25 MB by email?
In GINbox webmail, attach it as usual. A file over 25 MB is uploaded once and sent as a download link instead of an attachment, so it never bounces off the receiver’s size limit.
Where are the files kept, and for how long?
In Bangalore, India, until the link expires (30 days) or you delete the file in Settings → Shared files. A file removed for breaking our rules is kept 180 days, as Indian rules require.
Are the files checked for viruses?
Yes. Every file is checked for blocked and disguised file types and scanned for viruses before it is shared. A file too large to scan says so on its download page.
Do receivers need a GINbox account?
No. They open a small page with the file’s name, size, sender and expiry, and download it.
Included in every mailbox
Large files as links come with every GINbox mailbox, at no extra cost.
